How do you get home from a free night out in downtown Coral Gables once the free trolley has stopped running? This November the question comes up twice, on back-to-back Fridays. Giralda Live on November 6 and Art in the Park on November 13 both run until 11 p.m. The Coral Gables Trolley makes its last runs at 10.
The city has put three evening events on two Fridays in one compact downtown, all free and all within reach of a trolley stop. The last hour of each night falls to a different service: Freebee, the on-demand ride service, which the city runs until midnight on Fridays. If you plan around that handoff, both evenings work.
November 6: two events, staggered by an hour
The first Friday of the month carries two city events, and their schedules overlap without matching. Gables Gallery Night opens participating galleries and art venues across downtown Coral Gables from 6 to 10 p.m. Giralda Live closes Giralda Plaza at 120 Giralda Ave. to cars from 7 to 11 p.m., with dining outdoors along the plaza and live music from 8 to 10.
This month's Giralda Live headliner is Pamir y La Pachanguísima, led by Grammy-winning Venezuelan flutist, saxophonist and vocalist Pamir Guanchez. The band mixes salsa, tropical rhythms and jazz. The series is a collaboration between Diageo and the City of Coral Gables.
Here is the evening, hour by hour:
- 6 p.m. Galleries open for Gallery Night.
- 7 p.m. Giralda Plaza opens for Giralda Live.
- 8 p.m. Pamir y La Pachanguísima begins its set.
- 10 p.m. The band finishes, Gallery Night closes, and the trolley stops running.
- 11 p.m. Giralda Live ends.
- 11:30 p.m. Last Freebee ride request.
- Midnight Freebee service ends.
The city's Gallery Night page encourages visitors to use the trolleys or Freebee to get between galleries. The trolley works well for that before 10. After 10, anyone still on Giralda Plaza has only Freebee, a car or their feet. As of this writing, the city still lists Gallery Night's participating galleries as "to be announced," so check the city page that afternoon before you plan a route.
November 6 matters more than a typical first Friday. Giralda Live runs on first Fridays through May but skips December, so after this month the plaza has no Giralda Live until the new year. Gallery Night returns December 4.
November 13: Art in the Park after 14 years away
A week later the evening moves a few blocks to Ponce Circle Park, 2810 Ponce de Leon Blvd. Art in the Park, a free outdoor night of live music, visual art and food, runs from 7 to 11 p.m. as part of Carnaval Miami.
The series ran in Coral Gables from 2007 through 2012 and then went dark. Gables Courier described the 2026 return as ending a 14-year hiatus and reported that earlier editions drew hundreds of people. The revival opened on October 9 with Chili Guys, Pinogrillo and DJ Alex Gutierrez. Gold Coast Wave reported afterward that the relaunch went ahead as planned.
The November 13 lineup is still to be announced. Carnaval Miami lists only the October and November dates for 2026, so November 13 is the last Art in the Park of the year. The transit problem matches the week before. The night ends at 11, and the trolley ends at 10.
The 10 p.m. handoff
Both venues are on the trolley route. The city's 2026 trolley map labels stop 18 "Fred B. Hartnett / Ponce Circle Park." Giralda Plaza is served by the Ponce De Leon Blvd / Giralda Av stop. The trolley is free Monday through Saturday, from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Freebee covers the final hour. Under the schedule the city currently posts, it runs Fridays from 10 a.m. to midnight, and ride requests must come in at least 30 minutes before closing. The service is free and door to door. Freebee lists both Giralda Plaza, at 191 Giralda Ave., and Ponce Circle Park as ride destinations.
| Trolley | Freebee | |
|---|---|---|
| Friday hours | Until 10 p.m. | Until midnight |
| Last chance | Final run before 10 p.m. | Request by 11:30 p.m. |
| Cost | Free | Free |
| Giralda Plaza | Ponce De Leon Blvd / Giralda Av stop | Listed destination, 191 Giralda Ave. |
| Ponce Circle Park | Stop 18 | Listed destination |
| Fits the 10 to 11 p.m. hour | No | Yes |
The trolley gets you there and Freebee gets you home. The 11:30 p.m. request cutoff leaves half an hour after either event's 11 p.m. close. The city's Freebee page gives its schedule as "Effective July 1" without a year, so check the hours on the day before you count on that final half hour.
Dinner before the doors open
The outdoor events on both Fridays begin at 7, and this fall's newest dinner options are close to the trolley route.
On Miracle Mile, chef Clay Conley and the Ember Group have finished a three-restaurant cluster. Buccan, the Coral Gables location of Conley's Palm Beach restaurant, opened earlier this year next to Buccan Sandwich Shop. In October they were joined by Imoto, at 100 Miracle Mile on the corner of Galiano Street. The Miami Herald reported that the menu draws on Conley's time living and working in Tokyo. The dining room is much smaller than Buccan's, with banquette seating, a sushi bar and a cocktail bar. The menu runs from crispy Peking duck tacos and lomo saltado gyoza to tuna foie sliders and Kurabuta short rib burnt ends. Conley addressed the growing number of restaurants in Coral Gables in comments to the Herald. "We just do what we do well," he said, describing the approach as to "execute and give good hospitality, be nice to people."
At The Shops at Merrick Park, La Pecora Bianca set its public opening for Monday, November 2, at 360 San Lorenzo Ave., according to The Miami Guide. It is the restaurant's first South Florida location, so both November Fridays fall in its first two weeks.
The timing works best on November 6. Dinner on Miracle Mile fits between Gallery Night's 6 p.m. start and the 8 p.m. set on Giralda Plaza, and the trolley is still running for the short trip. On November 13 the same dinner leads straight into the evening at Ponce Circle Park. Either night, the ride home after the trolley stops runs on Freebee.
After November
The December calendar is thinner. Gallery Night returns December 4. Giralda Live skips December. No Art in the Park date is listed after November 13. That leaves November 6 and November 13 as the only two Fridays this year when downtown Coral Gables puts on a full free evening of music until 11.
For a bi-coastal life between Los Angeles and Miami, Friday nights in Coral Gables count as much as any floor plan. The DeWalt Group follows that calendar closely, from the newest tables on Miracle Mile to how a Friday night out actually ends.
